I am 76-years old, born in Witney and have always lived locally. I am self taught. I passed ‘O’ level art at school, and had a few casual tutorial sessions over the years, mainly focusing on water colours.
In 2021 I bought my first large deep canvas and a selection of acrylic paints. I loved the “bounce” of the canvas, the vibrancy of the colours and the medium’s forgiving nature.
My daughter sent me a panoramic, night time, photograph of Ilfracombe and asked if I would like to paint it. It was a challenge. I usually paint from photographs that family or friends ask me to paint, so I don’t have a particular style, and have gifted them most of the original canvasses.
We built “The Cabin” in our garden, that is now my studio with a lovely country view. Someone told me a few months ago that I should show my paintings, so I am….
