Welcome to West Ox Arts
On 1st April we will be opening our new exhibition.
Paul Redfern's work is exciting and atmospheric.
"Weathered Landscapes" has a mixture of painting, printmaking and ceramics.
MAIN GALLERY EXHIBITION
'Nature has always been a huge influence on my work. The natural environment as a whole is my inspiration but the elements that I really love are the cracks and crevasses, natural erosion and the way in which nature sculpts the landscape.
Visiting places such as the Peak District, south England coastal areas and waterways around Norway and the Mediterranean have given me first-hand experience of the drama of the terrain.
The tonal qualities and formations of shadows and layers inspire my work and provide me with ideas to work the materials. Whilst working on paintings or ceramics, I still have the intention to create three-dimensional qualities in the surface texture. When printing, however, it is more important to convey the ambience and tonal qualities of the landscape.'
This year we have a selection of artists showing their work at West Ox Arts. The artworks will be inspired by the concept of “Trilogy” - each artist has been asked to submit 3 works which are related in terms of their own individual theme.
Oxfordshire Artweeks is a great occasion in which all people can take pleasure in different visual art forms.
The gallery will be exhibiting these works for the full duration of Artweeks. A wonderful opportunity to see amazing art produced by local artists and makers. Expect the unexpected, be inspired, and delighted. Come to West Ox Arts for an excellent chance to own a unique piece of artwork.
