christine payne
Creating ways to shift perceptions and open spaces for dialogue are important factors in Christine’s practice. Working within the field of socially engaged exploration maintains focus on the importance of close noticing and observation, in turn expanding deeper understanding of our selves and our world. She creates situations and forms where our senses are heightened and perceptions are challenged.
Exploring the relationship of things inspires Christine and her work has a poetic sensibility. She uses techniques of subtle manipulation to combine objects transforming their meaning. Currently she is researching the process of ‘binding’ objects using cloth as a way of engaging with the preciousness of materials, both natural and made. Memories and thoughts become an integral component of the process. Committed to working in a range of media, including photography Christine connects to many fields of study: sustainability, the river, built environments and the land. These provide a constant source of exploration for her practice. Christine is based in Brize Norton, Oxfordshire. Email: [email protected] Website: capayneart.co.uk |
