October
The Pace of Nature: 5 - 27 October
Opening Reception Saturday 5th October 12-2pm, featuring live music by Bruno Guastalla
Over the last year, through each season, Martin Beek has braved the elements to create 'en plein air' paintings and iPad drawings. The result is a body of work that allows viewers to see nature from his perspective, at the time they were created. Having never re-worked the images from the tempting comfort of this studio, Martin's paintings and drawings offer an honest and unique view of the Oxfordshire landscape.
Ceramic sculpture by Aline Stanway & Barbara Murray compliment Martin's work in this exhibition.

August
On Common Ground: 3 - 25 August
Featuring works in textile and stitch by Fiona Robertson and assemblages and drawings by Douglas Robertson
Although working in very different forms of media, artists Douglas and Fiona Robertson share a passion for digging deep into their subject matter to create works rich in colour, line and texture.
Although working in very different forms of media, artists Douglas and Fiona Robertson share a passion for digging deep into their subject matter to create works rich in colour, line and texture.
Childhood memories of a landscape rich in folklore and tradition, where the footprints and legacy of people who’ve passed over the land previously were not only a memory but part of everyday life, inspire Douglas to dig deep into the environment and experiences of his past to create wood assemblages that resemble museum relics and atmospheric drawings that pay homage to coastal life.
|
Fiona digs deep into the sumptuousness of landscape, exploring how light can make nature’s colours appear soft and muted, or sharp and exaggerated. She then painstakingly transforms that landscape imagery into stunning works of art that incorporate hand dyed silk, cotton scrim and stitch, reading more like paintings than textiles.

July
Colour & Form: 6 - 28 July
Featuring abstract paintings by Karen Clarke and figurative sculptures by Anna Lever, this exhibition is a celebration of colour, form, movement and space
aren Clarke
Growing up in St. Ives, Cornwall has had a profound effect on Karen Clarke and her work, which has been strongly influenced by the landscape and sea there. Karen strives to convey a sense of the landscape in her work, letting the viewer experience the whole by articulating her use of space in the elements she portrays. |
Anna Lever
Anna Lever’s hand-built earthenware and stoneware figures, coloured with commerical stains and underglazes, take their inspiration from ancient Greek and Roman sculpture and the works of masters such as Chagall, Botero and Brancussi. Her sculptures evocatively capture a sense of movement and balance, which strongly convey her interest in theatre, dance and the circus. |

Reminiscence: 6 - 28 April
Presenting paintings by Peter Ross and sculptures by Dylan Bowen and Debbie Page, this exhibition features work which is reminiscent of themes of reflection, surface and form, with each artist conveying their own definition of those motifs in thought-provoking works which are simultaneously sentimental, expressionistic and delicate.
Reflection: Peter Ross is a Welsh artist living in Oxfordshire. Based on family and archive portraits, his paintings are reminiscent of the reflections of his childhood in South Wales during the 1950s and 60s. He also draws inspiration from other influences such as the musician Bob Dylan and poet Dylan Thomas.
Surface: Dylan Bowen creates organic sculptures from earthenware clay which have been wheel thrown and altered or hand-built. With the spontaneity reminiscent of Jackson Pollock’s drip paintings, his surface designs - created from poured, trailed or brushed-on slip - are striking in their euphoric expressionism. Form: Debbie Page crafts forms in white earthenware reminiscent of organic shapes. Their intimate size demands the viewer’s attention, in order to consider the ethereal finish of these delicate, vulnerable-looking sculptures. |

Memory and Place: 2 - 24 February
West Ox Arts presents Memory and Place, an exhibition featuring collage and assemblage by Kate Eggleston-Wirtz and Erin Singleton. Finding their inspiration in history, memories, and storytelling these American-born artists use a combination of mixed media, discarded items, and found objects to create intriguing, tactile collages and assemblages that offer a unique perspective of their individual journeys as they’ve adapted to life in the UK. Curious, humorous, and mysterious, these dreamlike works capture moments lost in time – symbolic stories about memory and place.
