Pushing The Boundaries - 18 July - 15 August 2026
West Ox Arts presents Pushing the Boundaries, a group exhibition bringing together seven WOA artists whose work explores materials, processes and ideas beyond traditional artistic categories. Featuring photography, ceramics, resin pours, textiles, collage, beadwork and sculptural assemblage, the exhibition highlights a range of contemporary practices that experiment with form, technique and material.
Photographer Neil George presents work that explores visual narrative and observation. Marjolein Trewavas reworks discarded objects such as chairs and tennis rackets, incorporating embroidery and textile techniques to create unexpected new forms. Working between painting, sculpture and beadwork, Nicky Brown creates textured canvases with organic three-dimensional elements. Textile artist Sally Charles uses fabric and stitch to develop sculptural works that extend beyond conventional textile practice. The exhibition also includes Frances Williams, whose layered collages sit between painting and assemblage, and Becky Rowe, who explores the balance between movement and stillness through fluid pours, resin and mixed media. Ceramic artist Alison Townley explores the relationship between function, material and making. Inspired by landscape and everyday use, her tactile works make use of Raku glazes and blur the distinction between practical object and artistic expression.
Together, the artists demonstrate a wide range of approaches to contemporary making, united by an interest in experimentation, material exploration and crossing disciplinary boundaries.

The Natural World opens on 22 August and runs until 19 September.
The inspiring group exhibition brings together the work of eight talented artists, each interpreting nature in their own distinctive way through painting, ceramics and textiles. From the intricate detail of wildlife and birds to richly textured textiles, luminous paintings and handcrafted ceramics, the exhibition celebrates the landscapes, plants and animals that continue to inspire artists and delight audiences.
Exhibiting artist Jane Peart captures the character and atmosphere of the natural landscape through sensitive observation and a harmonious use of colour, while textile artist Ann Lowe transforms fabric and stitch into richly layered works inspired by the textures and patterns found in the countryside. Ceramic artist Debbie Page draws on organic forms and natural textures to create elegant handcrafted pieces that reflect the beauty of the landscape, while wildlife artist Lynn Edward presents stunning photorealistic oil paintings of owls, garden birds, birds of prey and cats. Her exceptional attention to detail brings each subject vividly to life.The exhibition also features the distinctive work of Liming Chen, whose use of gold leaf lends a luminous quality to paintings inspired by garden birds, flowers and natural forms, creating works that shimmer with light and depth. Artist and ceramicist Debbie Howard explores nature through both painting and clay, producing expressive works that celebrate colour, texture and form, while ceramic artist Kashmiri Patel creates beautifully crafted pieces inspired by the rhythms and shapes found in the natural world. Completing the exhibition is Dinah Trowbridge, whose charming illustrative paintings combine storytelling with careful observation of wildlife and the countryside, inviting viewers to see familiar subjects with fresh eyes.
Together, the artists offer a rich and varied celebration of the natural world, demonstrating the many ways it continues to inspire contemporary creative practice. Whether through realistic depictions of wildlife, expressive landscapes, tactile ceramics or innovative textile art, The Natural World promises something to engage art lovers and nature enthusiasts alike. The exhibition is an opportunity not only to enjoy original artwork but also to meet talented local artists and discover work available to purchase.

‘One’ being Pat Elmore RBA, an eminent stone carver who has exhibited extensively including galleries in Paris, London, Jersey and Monaco. Pat is a member of the Royal Society of British Artists.
The other ‘Five’ exhibitors are; Ruth Gerring, Bill Grant, David Morton, Yvonne Robinson and Seija Wentworth, all well established and highly regarded artists who will be exhibiting a mixture of paintings and collages.
We are looking forward to presenting this current and diverse mix of talents in what is sure to be an inspiring few weeks here at the West Ox Arts Gallery.
