Valerie Munro

I took up painting recently, when I retired; I am self-taught, and still learning. 

My favourite medium is watercolour as I enjoy its transparency and softness, though I also occasionally use acrylic, oil pastels and pencils. I am very open to learning new approaches and trying different media.

Nature is my main inspiration: I travel a great deal and enjoy walking in the countryside and by the coast. I am inspired to capture seascapes, landscapes, woodland paths, sunlight and dramatic skies. Recently however, I have tried portraiture and have also attempted to draw and paint buildings. I am drawn particularly to derelict houses and disused industrial buildings.

​I am at the start of a creative journey. I am excited to see where it takes me, and what I can learn from others along the way.
