We moved from East Sussex to Long Hanborough in October 2024 and I am currently enjoying my new surroundings and gaining new inspiration. We are keen walkers with an interest in our natural surroundings and most of my ideas come from things I see whilst out walking, taking photos and occasionally sketching.
My artistic interest stems from my trade/craft of joinery which introduced me to wood carving and then life drawing, clay sculpture and landscape painting. Each step of the way being encouraged by very skilled tutors that I came into contact with. I have shown my work in various exhibitions including National Trust Lamb House Rye and Smallhythe Place, National wood carving show Sandown Park Surrey, Geedon Gallery near Colchester, craft exhibition Langdon Hall Battle and Lydd art group Warehorne. I work in oil paints and soft pastel from my own photographs and sketches depicting moments that have caught my eye in a realistic and detailed style. My carvings are predominately in lime wood and are figurative, animals and birds.
