OXFORDSHIRE ARTWEEKS 2025

West Ox Arts Gallery, for Artweeks 20235 showcases a variety of work across the visual arts with the extended exhibition running from Saturday 29 April to Sunday 3 June 2023.

Our 13 exhibiting artists for this years' Artweeks include expressive and traditional oil painting; textile art focusing on texture, colour and visual design; watercolours inspired by wildlife; mixed media pieces focused on bringing the outdoors inside and a celebration of reinvention, bringing beauty back to worn fragments from the past.

With first time exhibitors and seasoned pros we look forward to welcoming our artists and visitors alike as we celebrate and showcase art in Oxfordshire. A little more about our artists.
Sonja Coles | lives in Oxfordshire | interested in human nature and the natural world | fascinated by corvids, much maligned but very intelligent birds
Marjolein Trawavas | Upcycles everything from teapots to vintage books | repurposes | makes things beautiful again
Will Lusty | Studied in Northumbria and Tokyo | Interested in the symbols humans have used over millenia
Rachel Payne | graduated from Norwich University | has a career focusing on how humans learn through and with art, crafts and design; runs the MA Artist Teacher Practice at Oxford Brookes University | paints landscapes and more recently natural forms
Lynn Edward | an artist with a foot in two countries; England & Africa | lives in Bibury | paints mainly in watercolours and oils
Lindsay Viner | based in Oxfordshire | self taught with a background in textiles | has worked as a workshop leader for over 10 years
Kay Gibbons | an artistic journey that has been one of 'ebb and flow' responding to and determined by the directional pull of circumstance and opportunity | focusing on her response to lunar imagery inspired by TS Eliot's poetry
Janice Giffen | painting for the past 15 years mainly in oils | her latest work focuses views from the Cotswolds the Wessex Downs & the Black Mountains | she uses oil glazes inspired by Japanese lacquerware
Edward Moss | has a passion for wildlife and comes from a family of watercolour artists | he studied golden eagles for six years in Northern Sweden |
Denny Webb | contemporary painter working in watercolour, mixed media & acrylics |has worked and studied in the USA | has a dedicated studio space in Ipsden where she holds private watercolour courses
Helen MacRitchie | textile artist focusing upon the detail found in nature and science | lived and worked for many years in Australia | bases work on wet felted wool adding other elements to create layered textural surfaces

 North and West Oxfordshire dates - 13 - 21 May to visit other artists in Bampton and also in the surrounding areas of South Oxfordshire (6 - 14 May)  and Oxford (20 - 29 May)  exhibiting as part of Artweeks 2023.

We are proud of our inclusive open membership which gives everyone whatever their art, craft, skill level or interest, the opportunity to participate in the visual arts from West Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties.
