This exhibition will light up the dark days of January, with five artists united in their love of colour and pattern. Jan Ritchie’s training as a textile designer invests her linocut prints of landscape subjects with a strongly decorative effect. John Stephens bold treatment of still life motifs uses abstract pattern making to great effect, while in her paintings Christine O’Sullivan moves away completely from representation to a world of brilliant geometry. To complement what is on the walls, Theresa Munby ‘s ceramics are composed of porcelain paper-clay which enables her to experiment freely, while potter Jane Sears transforms familiar domestic shapes with her use of underglaze decoration. |
