Clare Goodall
I studied Textile design at Chelsea and Goldsmith Schools of Art in 1980’s.
My passion was printing and painting fabric wall hangings and floor cloths, with the aim of bringing the natural world indoors with my designs of landscapes, flora and nature. I progressed on to being a mural and decorative paint finisher for interior designers and architects, producing wall decorations for homes and businesses. My favorites were a sky mural in a community café and a painted tapestry mural for a private house. After my teacher training course I chose mosaics as a medium to work with people and children in community settings. I have worked on many exciting interior and exterior projects, which have brought dull areas to life giving them a new colouful and vibrant identity. The therapeutic nature of mosaics and art has always been an important part of my work. Using textiles again with paint techniques and my love of nature is bringing about new work which I hope to site in interior settings such as hospitals, health and community settings. I am currently working on a second mosaic commission for the WestWay shopping Centre in Botley Oxford. It’s a 6m long landscape mosaic with cut out metal foliage and details in the forground. The first commission consisted of 3 mosaic panels depicting nature, skies, close ups of birds and wildlife which wraps around the corner of the centre.
